Hi, my name is Tommy Tran and I got by the moniker TT13. I started this website to write about the things that shape how we live — books, film & TV, music, sports, food, and travel. I want to create community through a shared exploration of what makes us human.
I miss the magic of how certain parts of the year make you feel like how September signals the start of the school year and all the new shows on prime time or the way January carries the energy of the football playoffs, or how spring turns into award season—whether it’s the Oscars or the Pulitzer. I organize my writing around those seasons and treat them like events worth building toward. You’ll find primers, rankings, contenders, live notes, and end-of-month verdicts—always through a consistent lens.
My lens is simple: craft matters, taste evolves, and great work holds up over time. I’m interested in what’s excellent, what’s overrated, what surprised me, and why certain things become canon. Sometimes that looks like a board of Oscar contenders. Sometimes it’s a tiered book list. Sometimes it’s a travel dispatch, a meal worth remembering, or a sports season that felt like a story. These are, of course, my opinions—but the deeper point is exploration: how different forms of human innovation and creativity move us.
This site is a home for that ongoing body of work. If you like thoughtful rankings, strong opinions that can change, and a calendar that gives you something to look forward to—welcome.
